1. Installation #
Q. Can anyone install the ECORD charger?
No. The ECORD charger must be installed by a qualified and registered electrician.
Installation by an unqualified person may present safety risks and could invalidate the product warranty.
Q. Can the charger be installed indoors and outdoors?
Yes. The ECORD charger is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation.
The charger enclosure is rated IP65 and the vehicle connector is rated IP55.
Q. Is there a recommended installation height?
Yes. The charger should be installed at a height of approximately 0.5 m to 1.5 m above ground level.
Q. Can extension cables or adapters be used?
No. The use of extension cables or conversion adapters is not permitted, as this may compromise safety and compliance.
2. Electrical and Safety #
Q. Is a separate RCD or RCBO required?
Yes. A suitable RCD/RCBO protection device must be installed in the consumer unit.
This will be selected and installed by the electrician according to local regulations and site conditions.
Q. The trip switch keeps turning off and will not reset.
This issue can occur when the charger is installed on a B32 type RCD/RCBO.
EV charging is a continuous high-current load, and a B32 breaker may operate close to its rated limit for extended periods, which can cause it to trip repeatedly.
For this reason, the Humax ECORD charger is generally recommended to be installed on a C40 type RCBO.
If this issue occurs, please ask your installer to review the circuit breaker specification and assess whether changing from B32 to C40 is appropriate for your installation.
Q. What safety protections are built into the charger?
The ECORD charger includes multiple built-in safety protections, including:
- Automatic disconnection in case of electrical faults
- DC leakage current protection
- Overcurrent, overvoltage, and frequency protection
3. Commissioning #
Q. What is commissioning?
Commissioning is the final step of installation. It connects the charger to the Humax system and enables smart features such as scheduled charging, energy monitoring, and app control.
Q. Who carries out commissioning?
Commissioning is carried out by the installer after installation is complete.
Customers cannot commission the charger themselves.
4. Wi-Fi and Network #
Q. Does the charger need to be connected to Wi-Fi?
Yes. A Wi-Fi connection is required to use smart features such as app control, scheduling, and usage monitoring.
Q. What should I do if Wi-Fi connection is unstable?
If the Wi-Fi signal is weak, the charger may go offline.
Please check the distance to the router and consider using a Wi-Fi extender or improving signal coverage.
5. Using the Charger #
Q. What charging modes are available?
The ECORD charger supports the following modes:
- Plug & Charge: Charging starts automatically when the cable is connected
- App or RFID: Charging is started and stopped using the app or an RFID card
Q. Does RFID charging require an internet connection?
Yes. RFID charging requires the charger to be connected to the internet so it can securely verify the request.
Q. Can I schedule charging for off-peak hours?
Yes. Off-peak charging is supported and can be configured in the app.
A default overnight charging schedule may already be set and can be adjusted at any time.
Q. What should I do if I forget the pin code?
If you’ve forgotten the pin code for your device, there are two ways to retrieve it:
- Check the User Manual: The pin code can be found on the last page of the user manual that came with your device.
- Contact Support: If you can’t locate the pin code in the manual, you can contact our support team and provide them with the Serial Number (SN) of your device. They will be able to generate a new pin code for you.
6. LED Status Indicators #
Q. What is the meaning of the various colours on the light strip?
- Ready to charge: A green pulse every 3 seconds signifies that the charger is in standby mode and ready for use.
- Charging in Progress: A green blink occurring every second indicates that the electric vehicle (EV) is presently undergoing charging.
- Fully Charged: An unchanging, solid green light denotes that the EV battery has reached full charge.
- RFID Card Swipe: A yellow pulse indicates a successful swipe of an RFID card.
- Warning: A continuous yellow light is a warning signal. For troubleshooting guidance, consult the comprehensive user manual.
- Fault: A steady or blinking red light indicates a fault. Kindly reach out to our support team for assistance.
Q. The red light is on or flashing.
This indicates that an electrical protection has been activated.
Please switch the charger off and back on again. If the issue continues, contact the Support Hub or customer service.
